Tory heavyweight in Island for hospice

The former Tory party leader Michael Howard is in the Island today (18 May) in his role as figurehead of the UK's biggest hospice charity.

Chairman of Help the Hospices Lord Howard of Lympne is guest speaker at a dinner raising funds for Isle of Man Hospice at Mount Murray, to be attended by Lieutenant Governor Adam Wood who's hospice patron.

Michael Howard served in the cabinet under Margaret Thatcher and John Major - tonight he'll talk about his life in politics and his vision for the hospice movement.

Tickets to the event are still available through hospice fundraising.

Lord Howard will take questions from the audience, with speaker of the Keys Steve Rodan calling 'order' at the proceedings!
