Isle of Man Transports says driver resigned after tram came off tracks
Isle of Man Transport says a driver has resigned after a tram came off the tracks in Laxey last month.
The incident happened on the Manx Electric Railway on July 7, when a tram derailed and toppled onto its side during a routine shunting manoeuvre just north of Laxey Station.
No passengers were aboard at the time and nobody was hurt during the derailment.
Director of Public Transport Ian Longworth says the trailer fouled the points because a crew member didn’t follow correct procedures.
He says the investigation is now closed, adding tram services continue to operate safely according to the timetable.
