Transport festival hits top gear!

Laxey and Groudle are centre-stage today (Saturday) in the Island's Heritage Transport Festival.

Visitors can hop aboard shuttle runs on the Manx Electric Railway to Dhoon, or steam out to the sea on the Groudle line.

Unusual motors and trailers will be out, and there's a chance to see the oldest working tram car in the world and to view the 'Royal Saloon' which carried Edward Vll and Queen Alexandra in 1902.

A series of special events has been organised over the past few days, offering fans of the Island's unique vintage transport, plenty to do and see.

Alex Brindley, who volunteers on the Groudle Glen Railway, says nowhere else could offer such a range of attractions:
