Half overall cost to be conveyor belts
The full cost of a planned £300,000 restructuring of the security area at Ronaldsway Airport has been revealed.
Figures released via a Freedom of Information request show more than half the overall spend (£160,000) will be on an automatic tray return system, with a further £40,000 put aside for electronic boarding card readers.
The remaining £100,000 is for building works and monitoring equipment.
A remodelled security area will increase in size to 160 square metres, with the second scanner switched on at peak times.
Five additional staff will be needed to operate it.
