Trees down across Island highways

Motorists asked to consider if journeys are essential as bus services affected

Police have been dealing with several cases of trees falling across Isle of Man roads during the early hours of this morning (1 December).

The constabulary says it's responded to numerous incidents including on the coast road between Dreemskerry and Hibernia which has been closed overnight.

Bus services which use the coast road have been affected as a result.

The 6.30am Douglas to Ramsey service and 6.40am Ramsey to Douglas service are being diverted via the Manx Arms via the Mountain Road.

An extra No.3 service will run from Douglas via Laxey to the Dhoon, returning from Dhoon Glen at 6.56am, before departing Laxey at 7.03am..

Officers are asking motorists to consider if journeys are essential and to drive 'expecting' there may be a tree which blocks their path.

They add anyone out on the roads should be able to stop in the distance they see to be clear.

Elsewhere, wholesale newsagent G E White says no UK newspapers have arrived on Island today (1 December) due to the early sailing of last night's boat.
