Mother and father deny ‘catalogue of chastisement’
Two people from Douglas will stand trial after denying assaulting their child.
The man and woman appeared at Douglas Courthouse today (13 April).
They’ve been accused of carrying out the offence between 1 and 22 December last year.
The prosecutor told the court the allegation regards a ‘catalogue of chastisement’ including forcing the young person into a ‘praying position’ for ‘extreme lengths of time’.
Reporting restrictions mean no details can be published which could identify the child involved.
A pre-trial review will take place on 15 June; both of the defendants have been bailed until that date.
