Tribunal hearing told Medical Director 'dismissed into inferior role'

Full tribunal set to take place in January 2022

The counsel representing the Island's medical director at an upcoming employment tribunal has alleged that she's been 'dismissed into an inferior role'.

A directions hearing took place yesterday (28 September) with a full tribunal scheduled for early next year.

Chaired by Douglas Stewart the meeting was told, by a representative of the Attorney General, that Dr Rosalind Ranson remains employed by the Department of Health and Social Care at this time.

However, her legal team claims she has been dismissed into an inferior role, removed from her office and had her phone taken away - resulting in stress and psychological injury.

Concerns were also raised over access to Dr Ranson's phone records as her counsel claims her phone was wiped at the end of January - the AG has pledged to look into this.

The Department of Health and Social Care has told Manx Radio Dr Ranson remains in post in her executive leadership role as medical director.

It adds: "It would be inappropriate to discuss details of individual employment contracts or employees in public."
