Tribute was paid in the House of Keys today to former Onchan MHK Richard Leventhorpe.
Mr Leventhorpe, who was 80, died while on holiday in France last week.
He moved to the Island in 1982 and was elected to the House in 1986.
The Speaker, Steve Rodan, said he was never afraid to stand up for what he believed was right, no matter how controversial the issue, and he always had the Island's best interests at heart (audio file attached):
It's understood there will be a memorial service for Mr Leventhorpe at Onchan Parish Church on November 16.
