Patrick 'Sos' Whelan had volunteered for 30 years
"A gentleman and a true servant to the community."
That's just one of the tributes being paid to a well-known member of the Peel Coastguard team.
Patrick Whelan, known more commonly as 'Sos', had celebrated 30 years volunteering for the organisation in February.
He also worked for many years as a caretaker at Queen Elizabeth II High School.
The Peel Coastguard has updated its profile picture on Facebook with a black line through its logo to mark his death.
