TT: Visitor influx could be 'breeding ground' for viruses

People urged to be vigilant for signs of Monkeypox

People are being urged to be vigilant for symptoms of Monkeypox as the Island prepares to welcome thousands of TT visitors.

The virus is usually associated with travel to West Africa and very close contact with someone who has it but cases have been detected in the UK and Europe.

Symptoms include:

  • Unusual rashes or lesions on the body such as the face or genital area
  • Fever
  • Muscle aches
  • Chills and exhaustion
  • Headaches
  • Swollen lymph nodes

He says whilst the risk remains low he does expect people on the Isle of Man to contract it:
