Two injured in Handley's Corner crash




Two people were taken to hospital following a serious accident at Handley's Corner yesterday evening (Monday)

It happened around 5pm and involved two vehicles, a white Volkswagen Caddy van driven by a 52 year old man from Ballaugh and a silver Volvo 340 which was being driven by a 72 year old man from Andreas.

Several fire crews attended the incident and the driver of the Volkswagen had to be cut from the car before being taken to Hospital by ambulance.

He remains in hospital this morning with injuries which are said to be serious but non life-threatening.

The 72 year old man was examined after complaining of chest pains, but was allowed to go home.

The road was closed until just after 9pm to allow police to clear the area and carry out investigations into the crash.

Police are apologising for any inconvenience caused and appealing for witnesses to the accident to get in touch with police headquarters on 631 212.
