Three locals honoured in Queen's Birthday list

Alison Gomme, Jim Crebbin and Angela Thompson receive the Royal honour

Three Island residents have been recognised in the Queen's 2015 Birthday Honour's List.

Former Prison Governor Alison Gomme has been awarded the MBE for services to the Isle of Man Prison and Probation Services.

Ms Gomme spent 35 years in the Prison Service.

She oversaw the relocation of the prison from the site at Victoria Road to the purpose-built site at Jurby, during her 7 years as Prison Governor.

Jim Crebbin has received the British Empire Medal for services to Manx Music and the Community.

Mr Crebbin was Musical Director of Rushen Silver Band for almost 50 years and has been a member since its inception.

He's been an inspiration to hundreds of young musicians over the years giving free lessons and lending instruments without charge.

He's also served over 20 years on the Committee of the Manx Music Festival.

Colby resident Angela Main Thompson has been awarded an OBE for services to the taxpayers in the UK.

It recognises her work with HM Revenue and Customs.

This year women outweigh the number of men on the list, for the second time ever.

Alison Gomme says this is a big step.
