TWOC crimes on the increase

Police say there's been an Island-wide increase in the number of vehicles taken without the owner's consent in recent weeks.

Sergeant Steve Goldsmith from the Eastern Neighbourhood policing team says the majority have been left unlocked and with the keys either in the ignition or hidden somewhere in the vehicle.

Motorists are being reminded once again to take common sense simple security measures - always remove keys from the car when parked and ensure it's locked at all times if unattended.

Police point out that if owners don't take these measures and their car is stolen and ends up damaged it is highly likely that their insurance company will refuse to pay out on any claims.
