Tynwald holds minutes silence for fallen of First World War

Tynwald has marked the hundredth anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War with a moment of silence held in the chamber.

During this week's sitting, Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan moved that the court remembered those from the Island who gave their lives in the conflict.

The court - at its last sitting before the official anniversary of the start of the war on August 6 - unanimously voted to back his motion .

President of Tynwald Clare Christian then suggested a moment's silence be held:
