Ministers have free vote on Lisvane report

Ministers should vote as they think best

Government ministers won't be told how to vote in an upcoming debate on a set of proposals designed to improve the Manx Parliament.

That's according to the Chief Minister Howard Quayle.

He'll be bringing a motion forward in Tynwald later this month (20 June) for members to consider the eleven recommendations of the Lisvane report.

These include having only one departmental member in each department, changing the role of the Legislative Council, and providing a clearer divide between government and scrutiny.  

Mr Quayle says he has his own views on the report, but won't stop others from voting how they think best:
