Unions examine 'all possibilities' for savings

Teaching unions in the Isle of Man are urging the Department of Education to find savings, without jeopardising the Island's enviable classroom standards.

A number of regional briefings have been held for teachers around the Island by the minister Anne Craine and senior officials.

Every government department has to find savings of around 15 per cent to offset the reduction in the overall government budget of more than £100 million, as a reuslt of changes on the VAT agreement with the United Kingdom.
