Update on senior appointments at local secondary school

It's been revealed Castle Rushen High School is to get a new deputy head teacher.

Chairman of Castletown Commissioners Alwyn Callister says Dr Anne Kennaugh, who was educated at the school, will take up the post in September.

The appointment was revealed at a meeting as commissioners criticised the Department of Education over its handling of the Maria Tomaszewska affair.

Board members said they were unhappy it had taken more than a year to investigate allegations against the head teacher of the school, who has since resigned.

They questioned whether a replacement head could be found quickly, although Mr Callister said the post would be advertised later this month and candidates interviewed by the end of the school year.
