Football officials have slammed vandals who struck at a Douglas football ground as 'mindless'.
Overnight on Friday, somebody caused substantial damage to the changing rooms at Gymns Football Club in Tromode.
The side was due to play a home game on Saturday and feared a lack of facilities would mean the match had to be postponed – but Cronkbourne Cricket Club stepped into the breach and allowed the teams to change in its pavilion.
Tony Mepham, vice-president of the Manx Football Association, says the attack was totally unnecessary (audio file attached):
If you have any information about the incident, you can contact police on 631212 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
