Varied question paper for final sitting

There are more than 30 questions for oral answer in Tynwald next week, as members rush to make their point before the summer recess.

And there are some familiar topics on the paper.

Onchan MHK Peter Karran still has some serious concerns about what happened when EuroManx went into liquidation, and has two very detailed questions for oral answer and another two for written reply.

A great number of subjects are covered in the paper, including the struggle for those on low incomes in the face of rising fuel prices, the progress of the Disability Discrimination Bill, the proposed hotel in Lord Street, Douglas and the Drug and Alcohol Unit.

There are references to the recent U-turns by the DHSS over fluoridation and long-stay care home admissions, with East Douglas MHK Brenda Cannell calling it 'foolish and indecisive behaviour' which has caused the public 'worry and heartache'.

The final sitting of the current legislative year will get underway at 10.30am on Tuesday.
