Venus transit warning

A rare celestial event takes place overnight - but you’re being urged to be careful viewing it.

Weather permitting, Islanders will be able to see the transit of the planet Venus - where the planet Venus passes directly between the Earth and the Sun - around sun rise tomorrow.

After that, the laws of orbital mechanics will not bring the planets into position again until 2117.

Chairman of the Isle of Man Astronomical Society, Howard Parkin, is urging caution.
