Veteran takes in Island's coastline as part of 'journey of a lifetime' 

Scottish man's efforts to give back to charity which supported his mental health struggle

A Royal Artillery veteran who was diagnosed with a debilitating autoimmune disease after leaving the army is due to walk around the Isle of Man's coastline as part of his 16,000 mile ‘journey of a lifetime’.

Daniel McNeil started walking around Britain, and its Islands, in March 2021 to raise awareness of mental health issues – tonight he’ll arrive on Manx shores (3 October).

He’ll continue in his efforts to raise money for the armed forces charity SSAFA – The Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen’s’ Families Association.

The charity supported Daniel, who is from Dumfries, to turn his life around when spiralling depression led him to the brink of suicide.
