Building works at Manx Radio have uncovered the charred foundations of a motorised, revolving viewing platform which used to exist here on Douglas Head.
The Warwick Tower had a steam-powered mechanism to raise the platform to the top, then an electrical one to rotate it.
It was opened in time for the 1899 tourist season, but burnt down the following year.
Local historian Peter Kelly came up for a look, and told us what happened:
Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital closure 'inconvenient' but 'significant issues' need to be fixed
Four local authorities looking for by-election candidates
Reinstatement of home births 'remains at top of agenda' for Manx Care
Weekend sailings at risk
