Views sought on Protected Buildings Register

There's a chance to have your say on whether or not a number of Island landmarks and houses make it onto the Protected Buildings Register.

The Department of Local Government and the Environment wants to add Malew Church, Castletown Railway Station and the windmill at Ballawhane Farm in Andreas to the list.

Also up for consideration are three properties on The Crofts in Castletown; Crofton, Elderbank and Westwood.

Edward Oldham reports:

If these buildings are added to the list, any demolition, alteration or extension work would have to be approved by DoLGE.

Anyone who wants to make representations to the department about the proposals must do so no later than January 16th.

Meanwhile, DoLGE says there's been a request to take Red Cross House, on Derby Road, Douglas, off the list.

Anyone who wishes to have their say on this matter must contact the department no later than January 8th.
