Vintage railway begins 2011 service

There's another sign today (Saturday) that spring has sprung!

The Manx Electric Railway starts running, after the winter break, this morning.

The first tram leaves Derby Castle, at the northern end of Douglas promenade, at 9.40am.

During March there is a limited service, with trams operating at weekends and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The full seven-day timetable comes into operation on Saturday, April 2.

The Steam Railway swung into action for 2011 a week ago today.
