Virtual Tynwald faces questions over lockdown decision making

Tynwald meets virtually for extraordinary sitting

How government makes decisions on lockdown and border restrictions, and Douglas promenade works, are among topics to be discussed in a virtual sitting of Tynwald today.

Political members are to meet for an extraordinary sitting of the court, from 2.30pm.

Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson is asking about what 'key indicators' government uses "to make decisions on lockdown and border restrictions and what phased milestones have been identified in the Exit Strategy".

The infrastructure minister is to be probed on how work on Douglas promenade can be carried out whilst taking social distancing into account.

Elsewhere on the schedule the chief minister is due to make a statement, and members are expected to pass a number of emergency powers.

Those are to enable new Covid-19 measures.

You can hear the sitting live on Manx Radio's AM 1368 frequency and via our website.
