Visiting biker killed in Mountain Road crash

Suzuki motorcycle involved in three-vehicle collision

It's been confirmed a visiting motorcyclist has died after a three-vehicle collision on the Mountain Road this morning (27 May).

The rider from Merseyside suffered serious injuries in the accident between the Creg Ny Baa and Brandish corner at around 11.20am.

He was transferred to Noble's Hospital where he later died.

The collision also involved a Mercedes van being driven by a visitor from Northern Ireland and a Ford Kuga driven by an Island resident.

Nobody else was injured in the incident.

The road remained closed for three-and-a-half hours while investigations took place.

Police have thanked members of the public who stopped to help at the scene, and are urging anyone who saw the collision, but has not given their details to investigators, to get in touch on 631212.
