Campaign group to hold event for public to find out more

A 'void of information' means the public is forming opinions about windfarm proposals based on misinformation.

That's from the chair of a charity that promotes work towards the Island's net zero targets.

The Energy Sustainability Centre Isle of Man will hold a public information event later this week to discuss the Mooir Vannin proposals and other renewable energy options.

Ralph Peake and Dr David Quirk, the group's research director, spoke to Manx Radio's Political Correspondent Phil Gawne:

The Isle of Man Government and Ørsted and been invited to respond to the ESC's comments.

The information event is taking place on Friday at the Laxey Working Men's Institute from 4pm to 9.30pm, with a presentation scheduled for 7pm.

It comes ahead of the final hearings as part of the examination process, which get underway later this month.

Ørsted's 87-turbine plans have been the subject of a petition by a campaign group voicing concern about the project; it's due to be presented at this month's Tynwald sitting.
