Wait for treatment increases for those with most common cancers

14-day target met for just 55.9% of breast cancer patients

The percentage of patients being seen within two weeks of some cancer referrals has fallen over the last year.

The number of people referred for breast and colorectal treatment in the 2020-21 financial year also increased by 185.

However 60.4 per cent of colorectal patients were seen within two weeks, while the target was met for just 55.9 per cent of breast cancer patients - the lowest of any cancer type.

Health Minister David Ashford says work is underway to improve this but that short-term fixes aren't the answer:
