Warm and sunny June for the Isle of Man

Temperatures up to 22°C recorded

The Island fared rather well weather-wise through most of June, according to the Met Office, with other parts of the British Isles being hit by summer thunderstorms and torrential downpours.

Much of that showery weather either didn’t come this far north, or was kept at bay by our surrounding cool sea.

Whilst newsfeeds told of flash flooding in the UK, the Island had dry weather through most of the TT period, with temperatures into the low 20s.

The latter part of the month saw some more unsettled conditions, however.

The mean daily maximum temperature was just shy of 18°C, which is 1.6°C higher than the long-term average for June.

The warmest days were the 5th and the 8th, with 22°C recorded at Ronaldsway.

Total rainfall was 49.3mm, which is about 10mm below the average for the month.

The wettest day was the 19th with 12.8mm.

The wind speeds were unusually light, with a mean of just 8 knots.

The strongest winds were on the 19th with gusts of 32 knots (37mph).

There were 205 hours of bright sunshine, which is close to the June average.

The sunniest day was the 2nd, with 15.8 hours recorded.

There were three days with fog observed at Ronaldsway and a thunderstorm in the South on the 7th and one in the North on the 24th.
