Warning against defacing campaign posters

Posters for many of theĀ 64 candidates campaigning for this month's general election are appearing at locations all over the Island, but like them or loathe them, you can't touch them!

Police have issued a reminder that tampering with campaign posters is a criminal offence and incidents can be treated as theft or criminal damage.

They say anyone caught removing or defacing posters, banners or display boards erected by candidates could face prosecution.

Meanwhile, time is running out for people who haven't put their names on the voters list for the general election.

The deadline for submitting details to the Electoral Registration Unit is this Thursday (September 8).

Polling day is Thursday, September 29.
