Armed Forces Day celebrations amended
Organisers of today’s Armed Forces Day celebrations say they’ve called off a planned parade in Douglas today in the face of bad weather.
A procession of veterans and serving personnel was due to go along Douglas Promenade at 3pm, but forecasters say heavy rain is expected to sweep the Island from lunchtime.
The parade has now been abandoned, but a church service in the Villa Marina’s Royal Hall later will still go ahead.
Organisers say those attending should be in their seats at 3.30pm in time for a 3.45pm start.
