Florist fears losing 100% of income this year

An Island florist fears her income for the rest of the year could disappear due to the impact of coronavirus.

The outbreak of Covid-19 has resulted in local couples due to the get married this summer having to postpone their celebrations.

Heidi Baker from the Flower Studio says all of her business over the summer months comes from weddings:

Meanwhile, a local bride due to get married this year says coronavirus has put her and her fiance's plans under financial pressure.

Nicola Whyment's wedding has been cancelled as a result of the outbreak.

She and her partner both worked two jobs for two years in order to pay for the event.

She admits it's difficult planning for the future:

A Douglas hotel has lost £100,000 due to cancelled events as a result of coronavirus.

The Empress Hotel says the loss of weddings, mothers day bookings and Easter has had a big effect on its takings.

The company has had to tell 50 members of staff not to come to work.
