Weir on our way to the spawning grounds!

Salmon and sea trout will have an easier time of it as they try to get up the River Neb to spawn, thanks to a new weir.

It has been constructed at Ballaleece, on the Peel side of St John's, and is the combined work of the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture; the Department of Infrastructure; and the Water and Sewerage Authority.

A previous structure had fallen into disrepair, and the fish were finding it difficult to reach vital spawning grounds.

Department spokesperson Karen McHarg says it's a big improvement:
