Were Laxey floods an example of 'climate reality'?

An illustrated presentation tonight will ask whether the recent flooding in Laxey was an example of 'climate reality'.

Paul Craine, author of the 'Isle of Man Population Atlas' and IoM leader of the Climate Reality Project, is hosting the discussion at the Salmon Lake Centre in Laxey.

The event gets underway from 7:30 this evening.

Laxey was struck with more than 100mm of rainfall in two hours, causing severe flooding which damaged homes and displaced residents, for the second time in four years.

Mr Craine will ask why this is happening - not only here, but across the globe - and whether these 'catastrophic events' are interlinked.

It's the next in a series of talks from Mr Craine, who is drawing upon the knowledge and resources he gained after he undertook formal training in the United States this summer.
