West is the best, say police

The West is the safest place in the Island to live, according to how many crimes were committed there.

In his annual report to Tynwald, Chief Constable Gary Roberts shows figures for how many crimes have been committed in the Island’s four policing areas.

In the Central district, covering Douglas, there were 1,276 crimes last year, compared to just 355 in the south.

The North came next with 316 crimes in the past twelve months – while in the West, police dealt with just 233 offences.
