Chris Sheldrick to share global expertise at TEKEX

The founder of global addressing platform what3words is set to speak at a business and technology event on the Isle of Man this week.

Chris Sheldrick - who launched the system in 2013 by dividing the world into three-metre squares and assigning each a unique three-word reference - will headline TEKEX IoM 2 in Douglas on Thursday (7 May).

The platform is now used by emergency services worldwide, as well as by the United Nations in disaster zones and major car manufacturers in navigation systems.

It operates in more than 190 countries and over 60 languages.

Speaking to Manx Radio Mr Sheldrick gave some advice to entrepreneurs with an idea:

The event will take place at the Santander Work Café from 5pm to 8.30pm and follows a sold-out debut earlier this year which attracted more than 150 founders, investors and operators.

TEKEX is part of a wider network across the Crown Dependencies which looks to bring together entrepreneurs, funding and expertise across Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

Organisers say the event aims to 'strengthen connections' within the Island's business and innovation community by linking local entrepreneurs with global figures.

Alongside Mr Sheldrick, the line-up includes Isle of Man-based founders working in property, recruitment and financial technology, as well as speakers focused on investment and business growth.
