Chair of Commissioners open to national ownership
The Chairman of Onchan Commissioners says he would be open to the idea of Groudle Glen being transferred into national ownership.
The local authority currently owns the majority of the glen, and leases its land to the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
DEFA Minister Geoffrey Boot says such a purchase wouldn't be viable, though.
In an interview with Manx Radio this week, Minister Boot commented that "every time something comes up for sale, we're told we should take it into ownership, and we can't afford to do that".
