Wholesale changes following Ben-my-Chree fault

Steam Packet says engineers have now carried out successful repairs

A technical problem has caused major changes to the Steam Packet's schedule.

Saturday morning's sailing from Douglas to Heysham was cancelled following lengthy delays.

It comes at the start of one of the busiest periods on the Manx calendar with TT 2017 officially beginning today.

The company is refusing to reveal details of what the issue with the Ben-my-Chree was, however, it has said engineers have now carried out repairs.

Passengers who were due on the 8.45am crossing to Lancashire have been transferred on to the 3pm Manannan sailing to Liverpool.

Packet bosses have also made changes to this evening's schedule - with the Ben-my-Chree's 7.45pm journey being brought forward to 6.15pm and returning at 11.45pm from Heysham.

In a statement, the Steam Packet also says the MV arrow will accommodate large vehicles which can't board the Manannan.

CEO Mark Woodward apologised for the problem and says they are working hard to return services to normal.
