Wildlife charity upcycles tree waste

MWT creates products from coppicing

The Manx Wildlife Trust is creating useful garden items from nature's waste.

The self-styled Midweek Muckers are creating wattle panels and willow bundles from their coppicing days at Close Sartfield - a project which aims to stimulate growth of trees on site.

With an eye to recycling, the clearing has produced materials for wattle panels and willow bundles - which are now being sold by the Trust, the funds going back into the charity's conservation work.

The panels are designed to provide natural windbreaks, as a framework for plants, or to hide oil tanks or sheds.

The willows are said to make good packing for horse jumps.
