Will Paradise Papers lead to prosecutions?

HMRC boss says tax dodging will be investigated

British tax authorities have warned they may be seeking prosecutions in the wake of the Paradise Papers.

Data from the leak has prompted allegations of tax avoidance in offshores by hundreds of companies and individuals - but questions remain over whether any of the practices in question are actually illegal.

A number of individuals were formally investigated after the release of the Panama Papers last year, but it's not thought any direct convictions resulted in the UK.

HM Revenue & Customs Chief Executive, John Thompson, told the UK's Public Accounts Committee it would exercise all its powers to investigate tax dodging in the Crown Dependencies:
