Government's Adverse Weather Group keeping 'close eye' on forecast
Government says it will make a decision about school closures by 6.45am tomorrow.
Two weather warnings are due to come into place on the Isle of Man.
A yellow weather warning for coastal overtopping will kick-in from 8am until 1am (8 February).
Strong easterly winds, with gusts of up to 45mph, will case waves and debris to wash onto exposed roads and promenades.
It will affect Douglas, Laxey and Ramsey predominantly.
An amber weather warning for snow above 500ft will follow; that will be in place from 10am until 11pm.
Given the strength of the wind significant 'blowing snow' is possible leading to deep drifts in places especially towards the west of the Island.
The Adverse Weather Group – made up of staff from emergency planning, Ronaldsway Met Office, emergency services, schools, highways and healthcare – says it will ‘keep a close eye’ on the forecast.
