Woman highlights problem of eviction

Claims issue a more widespread problem

A woman who was evicted from her council house in Hillside Avenue earlier this week says she's surviving on the goodwill and support of friends and supporters.

Douglas Council won a court order for Lynn Bridson's eviction because she had been in rent arrears on the property. They also stated that they could not justify her staying in public housing as she owned another property in Cronk y Berry.

Ms Bridson, who has a grown-up daughter with special needs and is guardian to her eight year old grandson, says she can't currently live in her house as it has no heating and needs to be fully refurbished internally.

Earlier this week she set up a tent in the garden of the property

She says she went public in order to highlight what she sees as a more widespread problem
