Handed a £1,200 fine instead
A Pulrose woman's been fined for importing cannabis to the Island after originally being given community service.
Samantha Jean Harrison, of Heather Crescent, represented herself when she appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
She applied to revoke a community service order which was given to her in May last year following her conviction.
Harrison had previously pleaded guilty to producing cannabis and possessing it.
In December 2020 post office staff found a suspicious package – inside was more than £1,100 worth of cannabis.
After admitting the two offences the 36-year-old was sentenced to 140 hours of unpaid work and the court heard she'd already completed 32 hours.
However probation supported replacing the order after Harrison struggled to find childcare.
Mrs Hughes revoked the order and fined Harrison £1,200.
