Work on new reservoir to begin in 2011

More than 5,000 people in the north of the Island will soon be getting their water from a new reservoir.

The Isle of Man Water and Sewerage Authority says it's been given permission to build the facility off Glen Auldyn Road in Lezayre.

The 6.5 million litre reservoir is around three times bigger than the one at Ballure, which closed in 2005 and is currently being decommissioned.

Building work on the storage lake and pipeline will start early next year and will take around 18 months to complete.

Chairman of the authority Tim Crookall MHK says the development will increase the security of supplies to everyone in the north of the Island.
