Workshop for learning disabled

The care organisation Clinch will host a workshop later this month, at which an update will be given on the proposed village-style complex for people with learning difficulties in the Isle of Man.

The event will be run by Island resident Susan Barnes, a graduate psychologist and special needs counsellor, and an open invitation is being extended to family carers, and all the members of the House of Keys.

Clinch spokesman John Sheppard says the village-style accommodation has many advantages over old-fashioned institutions, and the more recently adopted 'care in the community' approach:

The Clinch workshop will be at the recently established 'Centre 21', off Glencrutchery Road, Douglas from 10.30 am to 2pm on Saturday, April 12th (a week tomorrow).
