£2m target not enough, says chamber

The Island's Chamber of Commerce says it's concerned at this week's Budget headline - that government aims to save £2 million in the next financial year.

The Chamber's response to Eddie Teare's budget, based on the views of member businesses, is mixed.

It welcomes moves to encourage enterprise and grow the economy - such as the issue of a government bond for capital projects, and an increase in the relocation expenses tax break.

But the organisation says it is worrying reserve funds will be plundered for the next six years to reduce the deficit. 

And chief executive Jane Dellar says the plan to slash costs by £2m isn't challenging enough - given the scale of the problem:
