WWII infrastructure 'could be used for tourism'

Island at War weekend approaches

An organiser of the 'Island at War' commemorations says we could make better use of World War Two infrastructure - as tourism sites.

Taking place on 17 and 18 August, 'Island at War' will host a range of activities from 10am until 4:30pm daily.

Charles Guard is one of the brains behind the upcoming 1940s weekend - hosted by Isle of Man Railways.

Mr Guard used the example of Manx Radio's headquarters, built in 1939 to train cadets in the art of harbour radar, and says there are sites of interest "if you know where to look":
