WWII remembered at Jurby

Jurby Church is playing host to a 'Time to Remember' this week.

It's the title of an exhibition which opened today (Wednesday), comprising memorabilia from World War II, including original local posters and artefacts such as uniforms and model aircraft.

The church grounds hold 43 Commonwealth graves of people who lost their lives in the war, and a service and parade on Sunday, led by the Ellan Vannin Pipes and Drums and a home guard re-enactment group, will commemorate the fallen.

One of the organisers of the exhibition, Michael Starkey, says it's important to remember the war effort in the north of the Island (listen to audio file below):

The exhibition at Jurby Church is open daily, from 10am until 4pm, until Sunday (November 27).
