High spring tides expected to flood inner harbours
There'll be a yellow weather warning in place later today (12 March) for coastal overtopping.
Inner harbour flooding is also expected around the time of high tide this afternoon.
Forecasters at Ronaldsway Met Office say although winds will only be moderate to fresh, the high spring tides will bring sea water and debris onto exposed coastal roads and promenades.
The warning is in place from 11.45am until 1.45pm.
The areas most at risk for coastal overtopping are Shore Road in Rushen, Castletown Promenade and the northern to central parts of Douglas Promenade.
Inner harbour flooding is expected on the tongue in Douglas with a smaller risk of flooding on North Quay as well as Lake Road.
It will also be at the top of the Mezeron Corner and West Quay in Ramsey.
Flood defences should be deployed for Castletown harbour if not already in place.
