Yellow weather warning in place across Island

The view on the Mountain this morning

Follows snowfall on higher ground last night

There is a yellow weather warning in place for snow and ice.

This warning replaces the one with serial number 15/03 issued at 2:30pm yesterday.
Light winds and clearing skies will lead to a risk of patchy ice forming on untreated surfaces, mainly in the south and east of the Island.
A short-lived spell of sleet, snow, rain or hail is expected around lunchtime today, clearing mid-afternoon.

The current warning is in place until 3 o'clock this afternoon - but a further warning is likely to be issued later in the day for the overnight period to cover the risk of ice.
